Luminary Is an innovative response to a need we saw for women who have had a social and economic disadvantage. We are a social enterprise designed to offer opportunities for women to build a future for themselves. We provide a safe and professional environment where women can grow holistically – encouraging ambition, restoration and second chances. We use baking as a tool to take women on a journey to employability and entrepreneurship, equipping them with transferrable skills for the working world. We offer courses, work experience and paid employment within our bakery, empowering women to build their career. By investing in and releasing them to realise their dreams - through training, employment and community, we aim to break cycles of poverty, violence & disadvantage once and for all.

CHAIR OF TRUSTEES
Sally is an educator at heart, has an Occupational Therapy background and she now lectures. She has been on the board for a Charitable Trust for 18 years and is passionate about the education & employment opportunities Luminary offers. She doesn’t have much of a sweet tooth so her favourite Luminary bake is Byrek made by one of our alumni!
Liz has a finance background, recently trained with Ballymaloe Cookery School, and was director of Luminary until 2017. Now in California, she has started Pursuits in Food, a food consultancy business, where she encourages brands to bring impact & purpose into their operations. Her favourite Luminary bake is carrot cake.
Davinia is a trained pastor and cares very much about supporting people - she also has an HR background so marries this with a passion for policies and processes that enable teams to thrive. Her favourite bake is Luminary’s signature - our cinnamon swirls!
